PNH : A member of the gang based in Rosemberg killed

Saturday, December 10 Jean-Baptiste Johnson, alias "Bout John", an active member of the gang based in Rosemberg (commune of Croix-des-Bouquets), was fatally injured in exchanges of fire with the police. Jean-Baptiste Johnson specialized in kidnappings, robberies, thefts. During this operation the Police recovered various items stolen by this bandit. The other members of the gang are actively sought by the Police.

A Haitian-American District Attorney for the Southern District of FL

Markenzy Lapointe (54) American born in Port-au-Prince, appointed on September 15, 2022 by President Biden to lead the Southern District of Florida as Attorney General, was confirmed by the US Senate on December 6. He is the first Haitian-American to hold this federal law enforcement position, the most powerful in the region. He is responsible for leading approximately 250 prosecutors in this district (from Key West to Fort Pierce).

The USA supports 248 clubs for pregnant and breastfeeding women in Haiti

Social rights remain difficult in the socio-economic and political context that Haiti is experiencing and maternal health is still a challenge with 529 deaths per 100,000 children born alive. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti) supports nearly 248 mothers' clubs made up of pregnant and breastfeeding women. These clubs provide a platform to help women take better care of themselves and their families.

Education : Haiti eligible for new funding

In Paris, the Board of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) decided to maintain the amount of grants to countries despite the difficult global economic situation. The GPE Secretariat informed that Haiti is eligible for new funding of $64.5 million.
