Police officer arrested for rape

On Friday December 16, 2022, following a shadowing, the Sexual Crimes Unit proceeded to Clercine, to the arrest of Jean Nixon Abraham (a police officer) for rape on the young girl Berline Mathurin on February 26, 2022 in Lilavois 55, under arrest warrant issued by Government Commissioner Roosevelt Zamor on April 4, 2022. Abraham, was taken into custody at the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ) pending referral by before the Court of First Instance (TPI) of Croix-des-Bouquets.

Strengthening capacities to help victims of gender-based violence

Thanks to funds from the American Agency for International Development (USAID - Haiti) and the support of the Ministry of Public Health, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is strengthening the capacity to provide care services clinic for victims of sexual violence in an integrated multi-sector approach of 15 health providers from structures supported in the South and Nippes. These providers, having learned to create secure and confidential spaces within health establishments to provide clinical care for victims of gender-based violence, now understand their role as auxiliaries to the justice system.

International Migrants Day

Jérémie : Donation of the Louisiana National Guard

The Louisiana National Guard Liaison, in coordination with the Office of Security Cooperation at the U.S. Embassy in Haiti, assisted in the delivery of more than 50 pallets of humanitarian supplies as a donation to the residents of Jérémie. The Louisiana National Guard has continued to be a partner with Haiti for over 10 years.

Switzerland/Haiti relations

Visiting Cap-Haitien Fabrizio Poretti, the Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Swiss Embassy in Haiti gave a lecture at the Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations, on relations between Switzerland and Haiti. Poretti, recalled that Switzerland had been a partner of Haiti since the end of the 1990s and supported the implementation of programs in sectors such as water governance, risk management, local governance, gender and social inclusion.

Montreal : closing date of the consulate

The Consulate General of Haiti in Montreal advises the public in general and the Haitian Community of Quebec in particular that its premises will be closed from Monday, December 26, 2022 to Thursday, January 5, 2023, on the occasion of the Christmas and New Year holidays. The Consulate already wishes you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
