Haiti - 219th Independence : Commemoration ceremony (PM speech) (Video)
On Sunday, to enhance the brilliance of the 219th anniversary of the proclamation of our Independence at the Place d'Armes in Gonaïves, on January 1st, 1804, Prime Minister a.i. Henry deposited, in the morning, a floral offering at the Haitian National Pantheon Museum (MUPANAH]).

Excerpt from Prime Minister Ariel Henry’s speech :
"[...] On this memorable day which has redefined the history of humanity, this solemn gesture is intended to salute this heroic feat of the Fathers of the Eternal Fatherland, as well as the memory of all those who shed their blood for bequeath this beautiful Nation to us. [...]

May the year of grace 2023, Year 219 of our Independence, year dedicated to heritage, see Haitians from here and elsewhere, reconcile, join hands in complete confidence, in order to build together the bases on which our young people will come to build the Haiti of the future.

May God bless our dear Haiti and give it reasons to be proud again.

I want, on the occasion of the commemoration of Independence Day, to send out a message of faith, a message of hope. Because I have faith in our ability to silence our differences, because I have faith in our ability to put aside our egos and our individual interests, because I have faith in our ability to rebuild this union that has is the strength of our ancestors [...]

During the year, something that seemed almost impossible a few weeks ago has just come to fruition. We were finally able to close the year 2022 with the signing of a national compromise for an inclusive transition and transparent elections."
