Haiti - FLASH : Warning from Jo Biden to Haitian migrants
Haitians, Venezuelans, Cubans or Nicaraguans who enter the United States, Mexico or Panama without authorization after January 5, 2023, including unaccompanied minors from these four countries, will not be eligible for the new US entry program https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38566-haiti-flash-new-us-entry-program-for-haitian-migrants-conditions-and-steps-to-follow.html

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), an agency of the Department of Homeland Security, has warned asylum seekers from these four countries that the United States will prevent migrants from Haiti and 3 other countries, eligible for the new program, to seek asylum at the US-Mexico border if they are detained while crossing the US-Mexico border.

These asylum seekers will be deported to Mexico without regular process under an extension of the controversial Title 42-based immigration policy US President Joe Biden said on Thursday January 5, 2 days before his official visit Sunday January 8 to the city of El Paso (State of Texas), to meet with local authorities (Biden's first trip to the US-Mexico border since becoming President).

Let's recall that the Supreme Court of the United States will decide at its next session next February https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38470-haiti-flash-the-supreme-court-of-the-united-states-maintains-the-application-of-title-42.html of the fate of the policy of Title 42.

Biden also announced that a number of Haitians, Nicaraguans, Cubans and Venezuelans will be eligible for the new program (30,000 humanitarian permits per month) which will grant them temporary permission to live and work in the United States for a period of up to two years, if they are applying from their country of origin and if they have financial supporters in the United States https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-38566-haiti-flash-new-us-entry-program-for-haitian-migrants-conditions-and-steps-to-follow.html

In these statements, Biden avoided talking about the harsh US sanctions against Nicaragua and Cuba that have contributed to deepening poverty in these countries, the economic sanctions against Venezuela and the devastating consequences that US interventions have had in Haiti...

President Joe Biden said, "My message is this : If you are planning to start a trip to the United States, do not show up at the border. Stay where you are and apply from your country legally. Starting today, if you do not apply through the legal process, you will not be eligible for this new program."
