Haiti - FLASH : High tension in Pétion ville, at least 3 police officers killed
Alerted by citizens of the presence in several areas (Girardo, Doco, Metivier, Meyotte, etc...) of a large number of heavily armed individuals from the Vitelhomme Innocent gang who were seeking to regain possession by arms of the territories of the former policeman converted into gang leader Alex Armstrong Dumornay, killed on January 18 by the PNH, a patrol of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), went to the scene.

Caught in an ambush under intense fire from armed bandits in Métivier, near the town of Diègue, the patrol in difficulty quickly called for reinforcements which did not arrive in time.

Despite their bravery and fighting spirit, 3 police officers were fatally injured : Luc Eliezer (20th promotion), Gérald Occinal (30th promotion) and Duckens Céjuste (24th promotion). A 4th policeman Wiclern Staniclas from the 20th promotion is missing and Guillaume Pascal (31st promotion) was shot and taken to hospital.

Police officers were able to recover the lifeless bodies of their colleagues killed on duty.

At the Pétion-ville police station, the police were very angry with the chief commissioner because, according to them, the reinforcements did not arrive in time despite repeated calls for help by the police under the fire of the bandits...

Remember that 8 police officers have died and 2 others have been injured since January 10, 2023
