Caught in an ambush under intense fire from armed bandits in Métivier, near the town of Diègue, the patrol in difficulty quickly called for reinforcements which did not arrive in time.

Despite their bravery and fighting spirit, 3 police officers were fatally injured : Luc Eliezer (20th promotion), Gérald Occinal (30th promotion) and Duckens Céjuste (24th promotion). A 4th policeman Wiclern Staniclas from the 20th promotion is missing and Guillaume Pascal (31st promotion) was shot and taken to hospital.

At the Pétion-ville police station, the police were very angry with the chief commissioner because, according to them, the reinforcements did not arrive in time despite repeated calls for help by the police under the fire of the bandits...
