Haiti - Diplomacy : Colombia will reopen its consulate in Haiti closed for 20 years

On the sidelines of the VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Argentina, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs Jean Victor Geneus (Haiti) and Álvaro Leyva (Colombia) met.

At the end of this bilareal meeting, Chancellor Álvaro Leyva announced that after 20 years, Colombia will reopen its Consulate in Haiti. Currently only the Colombian Embassy in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic offers consular services...

According to Leyva, given this reopening, a consul will be appointed in Haiti in the coming days.

Moreover, during this meeting the two Chancellors signed an agreement on the migration phenomenon and on other issues to consolidate bilateral relations.
