Haiti - Insecurity : About fifty passengers taken hostage in 2 buses

Saturday, February 4th, 2023 in the locality of Liancourt (municipality of Saint-Marc. Dept. of Artibonite), heavily armed men from the "kokorat san ras" gang intercepted 2 public transport vehicles : a bus from the company Patrick Coach Line which transported about thirty passengers from Port-de-Paix to Port-au-Prince and a minibus with at least 18 passengers which traveled Port-au-Prince / Saint-Marc.

About fifty passengers and the drivers were taken hostage, information confirmed by Méhu Changeux President of the union of the Association of Owners and Drivers of Haiti (APCH), who explained that the public transport vehicles had taken the road of Lancourt to avoid the road to Canaan which had become too dangerous.

So far the kidnappers have not communicated on the conditions of release of their hostages added Méhu Changeux.
