Haiti - Fight against gangs : El Salvador willing to send a mission to Haiti

On the sidelines of the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States in Buenos Aires, Félix Ulloa Vice-President of El Salvador, met with the Prime Minister a.i Ariel Henry, and offered him to send a technical mission in Haiti to help the authorities define a suitable plan to fight against gangs including an international force. Félix Ulloa who speaks French and has lived and worked for 8 years in Haiti is convinced that this plan could be presented to the United Nations.

"We are a small territory [...] We have high levels of violence, many common problems which could give us the opportunity to share a successful plan [...] We use all our armed forces and the national police in our internal war against gangs. We therefore have no additional elements to send, so there is no possibility that El Salvador will send troops or police groups to Haiti," declared President Félix Ulloa, stressing "The main risk facing Haiti today is when these individuals will go to the elections. Right now gangs can win a lot of seats in the new government..."

"Now the ball is in the Haitian court to decide when we could sign a diplomatic agreement to define this mission [...]"
