On March 27, 2023, the Ministry for the Status of Women and Women's Rights launched the "Alliance of platforms of women's organizations for the promotion of women's political leadership and the fight against political and electoral violence against women in Haiti".

Several high dignitaries from the State and international partners took part in this launching ceremony alongside Minister Sofia Loréus. among others, the Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry, the President of the High Council of Transition Ms. Mirlande H. Manigat, the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Haiti Ms. Ulrika Richardson, Resident Representative of UN Women in Haiti Ms. Marie Goretti Nduwayo and the Representatives of the different women's organizations forming the alliance.

Minister Sofia Loréus said she was happy with this first step and applauded the establishment of this new structure bringing together platforms of women's organizations determined to work to eliminate electoral violence, identified as one of the main barriers preventing a real representation of women in elective positions in Haiti.

In his speech for the occasion, Ariel Henry praised the courage of women activists who, despite everything, knew how to keep the flame burning and hoped that this alliance would take shape and bring together as many women's organizations as possible for the integration of politics. of the country at all levels.
