Haiti - Education : Inauguration of 2 new national schools funded by the diaspora
This Tuesday, April 11, 2023, Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education accompanied by Judith Auguste Nazareth, Minister of Haitians Living Abroad of Meniol Jeune Director General of the Ministry and Jean Ronald Joseph, Director General of the National Fund for Education (FNE), inaugurated the same day two brand new national schools respectively at Baptiste 5th communal section Gens-de-Nantes de Ouanaminthe and Matelière, locality of the commune of Capotille, under the gaze of local personalities, a few hundreds of students, dozens of teachers, school principals and parents.

These two school infrastructures were financed by the diaspora via the National Education Fund (FNE) for more than 110 million gourdes in total.

Each of these establishments has 14 rooms :
+ 2 preschool rooms
+ 9 rooms 3 cycles of the fundamental
+ 3 Administrative Affairs rooms (Management, Library, Multimedia)
2 sanitary blocks
1 space for the goalkeeper
Water tank: 10,000 gallons
Buildings built to seismic standards have ramps that can facilitate access for people with reduced mobility.



"We did not come to inaugurate only school buildings; much more, we have come to fan the flame of hope for a better tomorrow for the children and young people of these two intra-mountainous localities," declared Minister Manigat adding "We are rightly delighted with these two inaugurations. On the other hand, other efforts will be made by the Ministry to gradually improve the working conditions of the teachers assigned to these schools; to improve the learning conditions of students while ensuring that, from a general point of view, that each penny secured for the education sector, by the State and by international partners, has a positive impact in the classrooms class, everywhere, across the country."

Minister Judith Auguste Nazareth welcomed the contribution of the Haitian diaspora to the education of children through the FNE "The diaspora must know that its contribution to the development of the education sector is obvious, and that this contribution is recognized and welcomed by all the direct and indirect beneficiaries," reminded the Minister

These inauguration ceremonies were also punctuated by the thanks of Joseph Edgard Dumay Departmental Director of Education of the North-East, Hitler Gabriel, Director of the National School Olivert Vincent de Baptiste, and Morisme Duverné, Director of the National School of Matelière. They expressed their gratitude on behalf of the local populations while expressing their wish for continued and sustained support for these schools by the public authorities.
