Haiti - Politic : The UN in Haiti signs a 5-year cooperation framework for sustainable development 20/04/2023 09:04:13 The document will support the country in its response to the major issues affecting its development trajectory. To implement its strategic priorities, the United Nations in Haiti favors an integrated approach that takes into account the response to the immediate and long-term needs of the populations and groups most at risk, in particular women and young people. To do this, the United Nations strives to strengthen opportunities for peacebuilding and development and to foster the effective respect of human rights, leaving no one behind. The UN is counting on a broad partnership to achieve the five Main Outcomes of the cooperation framework that will contribute to the desired transformative change in Haiti. These effects relate respectively to the areas of good governance and the rule of law; human rights and security; an inclusive business model; basic social services, environmental protection, multidimensional risk management and territorial governance. The Framework for Cooperation for Sustainable Development promotes a model of cooperation that will help Haiti to exploit its own wealth and the potential of its inhabitants to promote inclusive economic growth, effective respect for human rights and the gender equality, well-being and a better distributed prosperity, and on the other hand to improve capacities for resilience and prevention of conflicts and natural disasters. The document is aligned with the priority actions of Haiti's Strategic Development Plan, as well as the Doha Program of Action for Least Developed Countries and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
