Harold Charles, a Turks and Caicos Islands businessman [of Haitian origin], philanthropist, and president of Harold Charles & Co and founder of the Sky King Group of Companies, as been appointed the President Martelly, as one of the 32 members of the Presidential Advisory Council, which is composed of several former Heads of States and international business leaders and who is co-chaired by the former President Bill Clinton.

"I am so proud to be part of this effort because the people of Haiti have been suffering for too long and I think it's about time for Haiti and the Haitian people to take their rightful place in the Caribbean and the world", declared the businessman.

Harold Charles believes that with his expertise and his vast international business network, he can play a vital role in attracting the investments that Haiti so badly needs, stressing that one of the developments he would like to see is the building of a first class airport in Cap Haitien with hotels. Accoring to him, these developments will attract tourism and other business ventures which will be a catalyst for economic success in the region. He points out that other sectors require investments, among other things: housing, agriculture, health and tourism.

The businessman expressed optimism about the future of Haiti "...I feel very encouraged about the direction in which Haiti is moving" and advises the President Martelly, to find a way to unite the people "...so Haitians in Haiti and the Diaspora must stand united so that Haiti will succeed."
