Haiti - Politic : Dominican nationalists worried about the advance of political Muslim groups in Haiti 07/05/2023 09:38:22 Wilson Gómez Ramírez, President of the Duartiano Institute, and Pelegrín Castillo, Vice President of the nationalist group "Pro Nación", declared that although Muslims have a minimal presence in the Dominican Republic, in the current circumstances the authorities must be vigilant, because certain politico-religious groups seek to influence politically Haiti where thousands of citizens live in an irregular migratory situation on Dominican territory. The two leaders agree that the presence of Muslims in Haiti will have a major impact in Haiti as this country is going through a multifaceted crisis with the control of armed gangs and a weakened population. They emphasize that the presence of mosques plays an important role from a philosophical, religious and political point of view and this in an environment conducive to the propagation of certain ideologies... "I think that respecting the freedom of worship and the sovereign integrity of Haiti, the Dominican authorities must monitor what is happening in Haiti with the Muslim presence and we we have to act in relation to our country and nothing else, Haiti has a particular religiosity to which are now added Islamic philosophies" declared Gómez Ramírez Pelegrin Castillo said that among those who support the advance of Islam in Haiti is the Muslim group "Nation of Islam" of the United States which is part of the African-American movement. He believes that the presence of some Muslims in the neighboring country is worrying because "[...] it is not a spontaneous movement, but a directed one, and with a clearly political background." He indicated that the security agencies of various countries have documented more than fifty new Muslim centers in Haiti, prayer hall, Mosque "including Islamic schools similar to those which gave birth to the Taliban which ended up controlling Afghanistan". He points out that dozens of Muslim organizations are making progress in Haiti thanks to funding from various NGOs, Muslim universities and other types of international organizations...
