15 hostages escape
Helped by members of a Coalition to save the Artibonite, 16 people, including 2 women and a 15-year-old minor, kidnapped for several weeks by the "Gran Grif" gang from Savien, managed to escape on the evening of May 4, 2023. Some hostages say they were mistreated and tortured by the bandits and had to be taken to a health center.

On the sidelines of the coronation ceremony of His Majesty King Charles III at Westminster Abbey (May 6, 2023), Haitian Ambassador Euvrard Saint Amand met with Dominican President Luis Abinader on Hatiano-Dominicans.

Teachers : April checks are available
The Departmental Directorate of Education of the West (DDEO) informs the inspectors concerned and the directors of high schools in the West that the checks for the month of April are available at the headquarters of the DDEO. Those concerned are invited to withdraw them for distribution to the teaching and administrative staff of public schools. Note that the checks will be given to teachers in high schools and national schools, present in the classroom.

Cash transfers to vulnerable households
The Haitian Government through the Continuous Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) has granted cash transfers to vulnerable households in the neighborhoods of MMartissant 2A ; 2B ; 4 ; La joie ; La paix, Village de Dieu, Manigat, Anba Mapou 1 et 2; Cité Cabrit; Bò Pylone; etc... This activity is part of the implementation of the Safety Nets Expansion Program for vulnerable people affected by the socio-economic consequences of the Coronavirus carried out by the Association of International Service Volunteers (AVSI).

International Day of Midwives
Friday, May 5, 2023, at the El rancho hotel (Petion-ville), Sofia Loréus, the Minister for the Status of Women and Women's Rights was at the heart of a day of reflection organized by the Haitian Association of Wise Men- women (ASFH), on the occasion of the International Day of Midwives. Minister Loréus insisted on the importance of midwives in Haiti "Investing in midwives means building a world in which every birth is risk-free [...] they work in all institutions offering maternal and neonatal, public or private. Village de Dieu gang member arrested
Brutus Gallardo, a prominent member of the Village de Dieu and Grand Ravine gangs, was arrested at his home by the National Police of Haiti, on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023, at the extended Avenue N, Barrière à Jour #13, Pacot.
