Haiti - Education : Launch of the National Network of Public Higher Education
Monday, May 15, 2023 at the Hotel Montana, Pétion-ville took place the launch ceremony of the National Network of Public Higher Education (ReNES).

This Network is an apolitical, educational, inclusive and non-profit association. It is made up, among others, of the State University of Haiti and public universities in the region.

This network's vision is to create a large interactive university environment for learning, teaching, evaluation and scientific research favorable to the sustainable development of the country and open to the world.

Excerpts from the speech by Rector Deshommes :

"I am very happy and very enthusiastic on the occasion of this launching ceremony of the National Network of Haitian Public Higher Education [...]

[...] The grouping and organization of Haitian public universities in this National Network of Public Higher Education (RENES) constitutes an opportune platform for consultation, coordination and pooling and pooling of our energies, resources and lean means for quality training and international standard of Haitian youth.

[...] The ReNES proposes to constitute an interface available for the Haitian State, for national and international organizations and for all other partners, in the field of cooperation and academic and scientific collaboration. ReNES will now be able to advocate and defend the interests of all public higher education institutions with the relevant state bodies and with all bilateral and multilateral funding agencies and bodies.

[...] ReNES remains open to all other public higher education institutions, regardless of their home institution. Private institutions can also become members under the conditions set by the statutes. Of course, each of our members keeps their specificity, their administrative status and their mode of operation.

[...] The ReNES hopes with the cooperation and with the collaboration of the Haitian State and all the organizations of technical, scientific, economic and cultural cooperation, to contribute to modernizing public higher education and to make it accessible and available to all. the daughters and all the sons of Haiti, through all the ten departments of the country.

[...] The activities of ReNES, in accordance with its statutes, will take place around the following axes :

- Training
- The research
- Cooperation
- The governance ;
- Technological development;
- Community services

[...] While recognizing the specificity of public higher education and the need to promote it for the benefit of our young people, especially the poorest and most deserving, and within the broader framework of national development, ReNES salutes the existence and operation of universities and private higher education establishments. Together we contribute to meeting the strong social demand for higher education and in this difficult context that our country is experiencing, we have a duty to reach out and work for the regeneration of our bruised homeland."
