Haiti - Insecurity : 734 people murdered in 6 massacres, all the details (Report)

Between April 2022 and April 2023, the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH) counted 9 massacres perpetrated in the departments of Artibonite and West. In 6 of these documented massacres, 734 people were murdered, an average of 122 people per massacre. 105 women and girls were victims of gang rapes for the most part, an average of 17 victims per massacre.

- Plaine du Cul-de-sac from April 24 to May 6, 2022, at least 191 people murdered

- Cité Soleil, from July 7 to 17, 2022, at least 300 people murdered;

- Artistic village of Noailles, from October 12 to 17, 2022, at least 19 people murdered;

- Savane Pistache, from November 10 to 30, 2022, at least 3 people murdered;

- Source Matelas, on the night of November 28 to 29, 2022, at least 73 people were murdered;

- Bel-Air, from February 28 to March 5, 2023 at least 148 people murdered.

The massacres perpetrated in Savien in February 2023, in Cité Soleil 5, from April 14 to 19, 2023, and Source Matelas, since April 19, 2023 are being documented.

22 police officers were killed during the first 4 months of 2023.

Since April 24, 2023, the population, faced with the Government's inaction, has started a hunt for bandits, through the "Bwa Kale" movement. The RNDDH speaks of more than a hundred lynched bandits, the UN mentions at least 165 lynchings...
