A group of young people, targeted by killers, 3 dead

Friday, June 23 at Thor 10 in the town of Carrefour, a group of young people was the target of armed individuals on motorcycles. The reason for the shooting is unknown. The justice of the peace of Carrefour, Moïse Jean, confirmed the death of three people in the shooting of Thor 10, this Friday, June 23. The victims are Samorat Jonville (25), Luc Berlot Boursiquor (25) and Luc Soinel Jules.

Solar pumps : India alongside farmers

Saturday June 24, 2023, in order to improve access to water for the local population and strengthen agricultural production, 5 solar-powered water pumping systems, financed by India with the technical support of the United Nations for Development (UNDP Haiti), were inaugurated in Aquin by the Ministry of the Environment.

Paris : Speech by Ariel Henry applauds

Technology in agriculture

The Technical Mission of Taiwan in Haiti presented to the farmers of the South, the applications of technology in agriculture. Using field sensors, information about crop varieties, field management, harvesting, packaging and sales data is integrated to form a production traceability profile. This information is shared in a database on the internet. Consumers can get product information by scanning a QR code, allowing them to shop with peace of mind and improving the food safety of agricultural products.

Distribution of materials and phytosanitary products

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO - Haiti) and the Ministry of Agriculture will ensure the distribution of spraying equipment and phytosanitary products to 200 producer associations to fight against parasites. In addition, 20,000 yam plants were distributed to more than 200 farmers in the communal sections of Port-à-Piment, South Department.

Remote management of GBV cases

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) organized a three-day workshop in Port-au-Prince funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID-Haiti), on the remote management of cases of violence based on gender in emergencies. During this workshop, a group of 34 case managers had the opportunity to exchange and share their experiences on good practices and guiding principles of remote case management.
