Haiti - UN/PNH : Possible arrival of a multinational support force

Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, Frantz Elbé, the Acting Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), accompanied by members of the High Command, met with Ms. Rosemary A. DiCarlo Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs of the Organization of the United Nations (UN) who was accompanied by Maria Isabel Salvador Head of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) and Ulrika Richardson, the Resident Coordinator of the UN in Haiti.

This meeting, which took place around several points, including the security situation in Haiti and the possible arrival of a multinational force in support of the PNH.

Frantz Elbé, took the opportunity to make an overall presentation of the security state of the country, the results obtained by the PNH in the fight against armed gangs and the challenges encountered by the police institution in establishing a climate of Peace, across the country.

At the end of this meeting, Director General Elbé stressed the importance of strengthening the operational capacity of the PNH in order to continue to fight effectively against organized crime in all its forms.

Ms. Rosemary A. DiCarlo reiterated the commitment of the UN to provide its full support in the restoration of peace in Haiti.
