Haiti - Sports : 4th edition of Friendship Games Haitian-Dominican
Three times postponed, the Haitian Olympic Committee (COH) and its counterpart from Dominican Republic have agreed to organize the fourth edition of the "Friendship Games Haitian-Dominican" the last weekend of November 2011. The first postponement was due to electoral jousts in Haiti the two other for environmental reasons [the rise of the level of the lake and the flooding in Jimani].

These games, that will be held in Ganthier/Jimani, will receive 400 participants, 200 on each side of the island, between 13 and 17 who will compete in six disciplines: athletics, basketball, judo, taekwondo [Tae Kwon Do], football and volleyball.

Jean Édouard Baker, President of the COH, wished to clarify "We hold these sports activities between the two countries to send messages of peace and friendship, and encourage the active cooperation and to leave a legacy for the cities that receive the games. For example, all residents of the area of Ganthier will have a play area electrified to have fun"

Jean Édouard Baker has insisted that this last postponement was beneficial fror the COH who took the opportunity to do other works on the new athletics track of Ganthier. The President of COH thankek the Minustah, WFP and USAID for the development of the football field and the construction of the multi sports field to the High School of Ganthier, and all other sponsors for their support in achieving this important event.
