Acting Prime Minister, Dr. Ariel Henry, presided over the ceremony, in the presence of members of the Government and representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps, among others. Message of sympathy :

American Embassy in Port-au-Prince :

"Today, July 7, the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince expresses its solidarity with the Haitian people on this Haitian National Day of Mourning to honor former President Jovenel Moïse. The United States remains steadfast in its desire to see justice served on those who planned, financed, and perpetrated this assassination. Over the past year several additional charges and arrests have been made and Rodolphe Jaar was convicted by a U.S. District Judge and sentenced to life in federal prison for his participation in the events that lead to the assassination. U.S. and Haitian authorities continue to work collaboratively to advance the investigation, so that the Haitian people can see no one is above the law."
