Data calculated since the first confirmed case (October 3rd, 2022)

Total suspected cases: 54,354 cases +132 in 24 hours, previous +664 in 24 hours

Total confirmed cases: 3,326* cases +28 in 24h, previous +12 in 24h

Total hospitalized cases (suspected and confirmed): 47,809 cases +88 hospitalizations in 24 hours, the day before +63** in 24 hours

Total deaths: 768 deaths ((524 institutional (+1) and 243*** community (+0)) +1, previous +0

Partial assessment of cholera in Haiti according to data from the Department of Epidemiology, Laboratories and Research of the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP).

*On the average rate of confirmed cases tested and the number of suspected cholera cases since the start of the epidemic, the number of confirmed cases should be above 19,000

Definitions:

Suspected cases:

Anyone with acute watery, profuse diarrhea with or without vomiting and dehydration

Confirmed case:

Any suspected case with a positive culture for “Vibrio cholerae” or presenting an epidemiological link with a confirmed case of cholera

Hospitalized case:

Any suspected or confirmed case that spends at least 24 hours in a care centre

Institutional death:

Any suspected or confirmed case who dies in a treatment center.

Community death:

Any suspected case that dies outside of a caring institution.
