The armed forces of Haiti (FADH) support the police but are not authorized to carry out operations alone. Ms. Emilie Prophet Milcé, the Minister of Public Security stressed that the army is still embryonic and does not have enough soldiers and equipment.

DGI : An accountant arrested for embezzlement

Nobenson Larochelle, accountant at the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) of Les Cayes, was arrested by the judicial authorities of Les Cayes, in a case of embezzlement of 14 million Gourdes from the institution. Two other employees, Billy Marclin and Grégory Marcénat, are wanted in connection with this case.

False Consul arrested

Esther Dacius, who pretended to be a consul at the Canadian Embassy, under wanted notice, was arrested in the Dominican Republic and then transferred to the National Police of Haiti. She is accused of fraud, forgery, breach of trust and criminal association.

Truce in Cité Soleil

Life has resumed in Cité Soleil thanks to an uneasy truce between the gangs. Many residents of Brooklyn neighborhoods were able to visit their friends in other neighborhoods such as Boston and Belekou.

End of general blackout
