The Ministry of National Education has published the list of higher education institutions recognized by the Ministry throughout the national territory.

Higher Education is defined as follows : "Set of training provided after the end of Secondary Studies"s. (Decree of June 30, 2020 on the organization, operation and modernization of higher education, Article 5 paragraph 23).

According to data from the Department of Higher Education and Scientific Research (DESRS), the list includes a total of 178 institutions (139 private and 40 public).

The list is divided into two parts=, the first part counts the 138 private higher education institutions (78%). The second counts the 40 public institutions of higher education (22%), including 23 entities of the State University of Haiti (UEH), 10 Public Universities in the Region (UPR) and 7 Schools of higher education each attached to a ministry.

The DESRS awaits all other higher education institutions with a view to their regularization. A general census is planned for the first quarter of the 2023-2024 academic year to update this list.
