Haiti - Politic : Delivery of subsidy checks and fuel cards for public transport

Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at the Hotel Montana, in the presence, among others, of the Minister of Trade and Industry, Ricardin Saint Jean, civil service executives, trade unionists and business representatives, Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry, chaired the ceremony for the presentation of the first checks for targeted subsidies to small and medium-sized enterprises and oil cards to members of public transport unions, as part of the multisectoral program for social relief and the reintegration of vulnerable groups, set up by the government in partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Ariel Henry declared "I took the initiative to pool the resources of the government that I lead around this multi-sectoral program whose benefits must be likely to create an environment of peace, security and hope for better tomorrow for the people.

The Government that I lead will help those who have problems. And he doesn't just say it, he puts it into practice. We support honest, good citizens and struggling small business owners. This is what we are doing today."

This initiative will allow the various members of the transport sector to stock up on fuel with complete peace of mind. Indeed, public transport users who are members or not of unions in the sector are all qualified to take part in this project.

Minister Ricardin Saint Jean clarified that this targeted subsidy program was in its pilot phase and indicated that the program for the supervision of small and medium-sized enterprises affects 2,000 companies across the ten departments of the country.

He underlined the will and the commitment of his ministry to support the companies of the country through the various programs put in place by the Government.
