Intervention in Haiti in the hands of the Security Council
The draft resolution authorizing the deployment of a multinational force in Haiti was submitted on September 5, 2023 to the 15 members of the Security Council who should rule on the issue on September 15. If the vote is positive, this force would be deployed under the name "Multinational Security Support Mission".

The Biden Administration is not considering the deployment of a military force in Haiti, but a force to support the National Police, underlined National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. He clarified that the mission should not take over from the sovereign capabilities of the PNH.

The Capital partly barricaded
Several areas of the capital have been barricaded since Wednesday evening, following a new attack by the Bel-Air gang in the Solino district. No official report available, but gunshot wounds were recorded and houses burned by the bandits.

"In Haiti we can destroy everything in 1 day"
During an interview with the French media "Le Point" Emmelie Prophète Milcé, Acting Minister of Justice and Public Security declared "[...] in Haiti, alas, we can destroy everything, together in one day; but together we succeed in building nothing. Since 1804, when the native army chased out the French army, we have not joined together to make other conquests."

CARICOM mediation, the opposition demands...
CARICOM mediation encountered a new obstacle on Thursday September 7, when the planned plenary with the signatories of the December 21 agreement and members of the opposition aborted. The opposition demanded the presence of Prime Minister Ariel at these meetings, as well as authorization from CARICOM for the participation of opposition activists.
