Haiti - Mexico : 113 FAd’H soldiers trained in special intervention, back home
Enold Joseph, the Minister of Defense informs that the military contingent which left the country on August 26, returned to the country Saturday September 23, 2023 aboard a Mexican Air Force plane, after having stayed for 4 weeks in Mexico , within the framework of Haitian-Mexican Military Cooperation. A delegation led by Minister Joseph welcomed him at Toussaint Louverture Airport.

Made up of 113 soldiers from the National Guard, this contingent commanded by Lieutenant Wesby Bjean, a graduate of the Military School in Ecuador, received training in “special intervention”. It should also be noted that 13 of them were trained in drone piloting.

Daniel Cámara, the Mexican Ambassador accredited to Haiti, expressed his deep satisfaction for all the achievements accomplished within the framework of this military cooperation signed in October 2018 between his country and Haiti. He took the opportunity to renew his country's desire to support the Haitian State in its efforts to establish a modern army focused on respect for military discipline, human rights and equity of gender. Mr. Càmara announced the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding renewing this cooperation program for the next 5 years.

For his part, Minister Joseph took the opportunity to greet the soldiers and congratulate them for the exemplary behavior they demonstrated during their training in Mexico. As with the previous groups, he wanted to remind these young people of the enormous responsibility that awaits them in the difficult context that the country is currently going through.

Let's recall that the Haitian-Mexican bilateral cooperation agreement signed on October 5, 2018 between Mexico and Haiti covers the exchange of experiences, training and cooperation in military education, support activities in the event of disaster and logistics. According to both Parties, all commitments made within the framework of the agreement have been honored :

  • A dozen awareness seminars on human rights and gender equity;
  • 250 soldiers trained by Mexican instructors at the Anacaona base;
  • 50 soldiers trained in Mexico in leadership and command techniques who became NCOs, without forgetting the first 15 professional executive officers of the FAd'H and a group of thirty instructors and monitors trained in Mexico;
  • 150 soldiers trained in Mexico constitute the first company of the National Guard;
  • Two cadets are currently training in Mexico;
  • Finally, the training of thirteen drone pilots and around a hundred soldiers in Special Interventions.
