Haiti - FLASH : The Mirebalais university hospital, target of an attack
During the night of Monday September 25 to Tuesday September 26, heavily armed individuals from Canaan and Titanyen invaded the perimeter of the Mirebalais university hospital which they targeted, sowing panic among the staff population. hospital and patients...

At daybreak, numerous traces of bullet impacts were visible on several hospital buildings.

Fortunately, no deaths or injuries have been reported, however, Dr. Régiald Ternier mentions trauma and material damage. "[...] Patients, residents and staff members all experienced the attack in the middle of the night. They are in shock," he lamented, deeming the attack incomprehensible.

Following this attack, those responsible for the Zanmi Lasante organization and the Mirebalais University Hospital in a press release emphasize that this attack has left a deep scar on hospital staff and patients. "Among more than 350 patients present during the attack, many were in intensive care, in critical condition. The hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, housing fragile and defenseless newborns resting in incubators, was targeted by gunfire. Several incubators were damaged by the shooting, endangering these already vulnerable babies."

They inform that the hospital center is no longer receiving new patients while some of those currently hospitalized will be transferred to other hospitals in the Zanmi Lasante network.

The Haitian Medical Association and the Union of Haitian Doctors condemn the armed attack against the premises of the Mirebalais University Hospital.
