Intervention in Haiti USA contribution : $200 million

And we expect the Pentagon will be providing another 100 million in in-kind support – intelligence, airlift, communications, and medical. So on top of those numbers I gave you earlier, about 200 million more with – assuming Congress supports – for this mission and we’ll also be passing the hat internationally, and we expect a lot of our partners to be willing to step up."

Suriname promises to send men

Tuesday, September 26, the government of Suriname promised to send men to contribute to the multilateral mission led by Kenya in Haiti. Albert Ramdin, Surinamese Foreign Minister, said, however, that his country had not yet decided what security contingent it would send, whether police, soldiers or a combination of the two.

Petit-Goâve : More than 100 cases of cholera

More than a hundred cases of cholera have been recorded in the 5th municipal section of Petit-Goave. Several deaths were recorded. The local population is appealing to the Ministry of Health to avoid the worst.

A Haitian woman raped at Las Americas international airport

The Dominican Minister of Women, Mayra Jiménez, confirmed that Stephy Graph of Haitian origin was raped in front of her son, by a man at Las Americas international airport. The alleged rapist was arrested, said the Minister, specifying that the victim, accompanied by her 4-year-old son, is in a shelter where she is receiving legal and psychological help. Note that some media published that the rapist was a police officer, a false information denied by the Dominican police.

Soon a new list of Haitians to be sanctioned

Maria Isabel Salvador, the Head of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) in an interview in the Creole section of "The Voice of America" announced the publication, that an expanded list of Haitian personalities to be sanctioned, will be sent to the UN Security Council by the end of November.

Women : Training in Farmer Field Schools

17 associations of rural women from the South participated in training in Farmer Field Schools organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as part of the project "Strengthening Socio-economic Empowerment & Leadership of women living in rural areas".
