Haiti - Social : The FAES finalist of the IDB «Super-Hero of Development» competition
The Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES), an autonomous organization created in 1990 under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, is one of the 5 finalists in the "Super-Hero of Development" competition of the Inter-American Bank of Development (IDB).

This is a highly competitive annual competition in which all implementing agencies of IDB development projects in Latin America and the Caribbean participate, with 141 competitors from 26 countries in the Latin America/Caribbean region.

This year, the selection was made by an independent panel from the IDB.

Despite a difficult political, economic and social situation characterized by a climate of insecurity which complicates its interventions, the FAES does not fail in its mission to support disadvantaged communities in the development of their capacities and the valorization of their potential thanks to the support of funds received from the Public Treasury and its international cooperation partners (IDB, World Bank, Taiwan Republic of China among others, etc.).

The programs and projects executed by the FAES take into account compliance with the standards established by the sectoral ministries concerned and are structured around three main components to which sectors essential to local and national development are attached.

These include: support for strengthening local capacities, financing social projects and vectors of economic growth, support for strengthening the intervention capacities of national structures. These programs and projects extend to local communities, sectors and social and rural groups spread across the entire national territory.

As for the beneficiaries, these are individuals and groups of people in vulnerable situations, disadvantaged communities and populations meeting the criteria for identifying multidimensional poverty.

FAES interventions are multi-sectoral: support for education (construction and repair of schools, school canteen, school transport), training, health, social housing, business creation, strengthening economic capacities , monetary transfer, agriculture and livestock (distribution of seedlings, goat breeding), popular canteen, etc.
