Haiti - Diplomacy : In Egypt, the Dominican Republic and Kenya discuss Haiti

Andy Rodríguez Durán, chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Egypt, met with his Kenyan counterpart, Victoria Rotich, to discuss the Haitian issue in the presence of Kenyan officials, advisor Roy Dzila, in charge of consular affairs and of the diaspora and Colonel Fred Muchera, defense attaché

Within the Kenyan delegation in Cairo, Rodríguez Durán spoke with Rotich on various topics of common interest and reiterated his recognition of the desire of the African Nation to lead a joint force to promote Peace in Haiti.

Rodríguez Durán recalled the bilateral meeting within the framework of the 78th sessions of the United Nations General Assembly between President Luis Abinader and the President of Kenya, William Ruto, during which the Dominican leader defined the African country as a new friend, describing this meeting as beneficial for all, in reference to plans for a multinational mission in Haiti to facilitate a solution to the security crisis.

Furthermore, he recalled that on September 21, during the high-level meeting convened by the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, of the ad hoc Group on Haiti of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the Minister of Foreign Affairs Roberto Álvarez called on the UN Security Council to approve an urgent resolution with a broad mandate for the security force in Haiti.

For his part, President Ruto had urged the United Nations to urgently prepare an adequate framework to facilitate the deployment of the multinational security force that his country is committed to leading in Haiti.
