Sunday October 8, 2023, around ten hooded and heavily armed individuals dressed in military fatigues and police uniforms, burst into the Rendez-vous Christ church, located in Delmas 75 around 7:30 a.m. during the first religious service officiated by Pastor Julio Volcy.

Despite the failure of the kidnapping, the bandits robbed the faithful of their money, cell phones, wallets, handbags and other valuables. The bandits left with at least one hostage according to testimonies.

One of the bandits was fatally injured near the church by the Haitian National Police (PNH) who quickly arrived on the scene, alerted by social networks.

Elsewhere, these armed individuals encountered a police officer in his vehicle on Catalpa Street, forced him to get out to steal his vehicle and shot him dead.
