Haiti - Ottawa : Participation of PM Henry in the first Canada-Caricom summit 18/10/2023 10:24:35 During this summit co-chaired by the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, and his counterpart from Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, current President a.i. of Caricom, the leaders of the Caribbean States will address the problems of the sub-region of the America, the issue of regional security will be addressed with the main subject being the situation prevailing in Haiti and the sending of the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti. If this first meeting will allow Canada to strengthen its relations with the countries of the Caribbean, it is above all the situation in Haiti which will be the backdrop for this summit. Trudeau, according to a CARICOM press release, should emphasize at this summit the importance of strengthening democratic values, promoting human rights and international order, as well as strengthening coordination in regional security matters, particularly by responding to ongoing security, political and humanitarian crises in Haiti. In the absence of the Prime Minister, the interim in Haiti is provided by Alex Larsen, the Minister of Public Health. HL/ HaitiLibre
