Haiti - Technology : High-speed internet in rural areas in Haiti

The Internet Society Foundation's Beyond the Net Large Grant program provides funding to help Internet Society chapters implement innovative projects that have local impact by providing meaningful access to Open, reliable and connected Internet continues to deliver concrete results in Haiti by providing high-speed Internet to rural areas of Haiti through community networks.

The Internet Society Haiti Chapter continues the work of providing high-speed Internet access in rural Haiti through community networks. The Internet should not be a luxury but a tool accessible to all which can serve as a gateway to many essential services.

Access to high-speed Internet has become a necessity in our society, to communicate with family members abroad, to study remotely thanks to Internet access because insecurity prevents many young people from come and study in Port-au-Prince, to maintain contact with the world.

While the list continues, 6 community Internet networks have been installed in the following rural areas:

Salée River 5th section Baradères, Nippes

La Plaine 4th section Baradères, Nippes

Baradères Town Center, Nippes

Bondeau, 4th section, small Rivière de Nippes

Surrounded Savanna, Ranquitte, North

Milot, North

The National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL), the Internet Society Foundation, the French Association for Internet Naming (AFNIC) and the Transversal Foundation support this ongoing project to partner with the chapter's vision of universal Internet access. Haitian Internet Society.
