Five executives of the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes (CSC/CA) were kidnapped on the road leading to Tara's and Laboule, including the director of human resources and one of the audit directors of the Court, then that they were going to go to their workplace in Port-au-Prince. The kidnappers have already contacted their relatives and are demanding, according to available information, a ransom of two million dollars for the release of the hostages... EDH : Threat of strike Electricity of Haiti (EDH) employees are threatening to strike to demand salary arrears. Pierre Michel Felix, Vice-President of the EDH workers' union federation, criticizes the Government for not having respected the promises made to employees, particularly those at the Péligre hydroelectric power station. The UN seeks a resumption of dialogue between the DR and Haiti Mauricio Ramírez Villegas, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations (UN) in the Dominican Republic, assured that the UN remains looking for relevant mechanisms to advance the dialogue between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Ramírez Villegas stressed that the binational problem must be approached with the greatest possible caution so that it does not affect the interests of both nations, specifying that the UN intends to mediate and seek a solution to the crisis between the two countries. Caracol Electricity : The NRECA office attacked On the night of Monday November 6 to Tuesday November 7, the office of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), the electricity company of the Caracol Industrial Park (PIC) in Trou-du-Nord, was the target of attacks from unidentified individuals. These attacks come 24 hours after the protest of Terrier-Rouge customers who demanded that the company revise its new power distribution schedule. Barricades of burning tires were erected in front of the NRECA barrier. Towards a new scarcity of fuels The country risks experiencing a new fuel shortage following the decision of armed gangs to impose additional payments on trucks seeking to go to the Varreux oil terminal. In addition to the 200,000 gourdes paid monthly per truck in order to access the terminal, the armed men now demand 20,000 gourdes per truck for each load. Moratorium on loans The Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), in a circular (115-4), authorizes financial institutions to grant a moratorium until March 31, 2024, to any debtor company and to customers who want to benefit from it because of the crisis plaguing the country. When the moratorium expires, the customer must normally resume monthly debt service (payment of capital and interest) while enjoying the same credit classification at the end of September 2023, specifies the circular.
