Haiti - USA : Re-registration deadline for TPS 15/11/2023 08:39:49
In September 2023, the Joe Biden Government extended the deadlines for re-registration of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to 18 months for El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua and Sudan. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said the expansion will remain open throughout the program renewal period. Let's remember that Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is a humanitarian program that the United States Federal Government grants to countries facing armed conflicts, natural disasters or other temporary extraordinary conditions. TPS provides protection from deportation to undocumented immigrants who were in the United States at the time it was granted and work authorization for the duration of the protection. TPS benefits some 400,000 undocumented immigrants. With the extension announced by DHS, the re-registration deadlines are as follows : Haiti TPS : re-registration extended until August 3, 2024; Salvador : re-registration extended until March 9, 2025; Honduras TPS : re-registration extended until July 5, 2025; Nepal TPS : re-registration extended until June 24, 2025; And Nicaragua TPS : re-registration extended until July 5, 2025; Sudan TPS : re-registration extended until April 19, 2025.
