Vertières commemorated in Montreal
Members of the Haitian community of Montreal commemorated the 220th anniversary of the Battle of Vertières in color on November 18, 2023. For the occasion, they created an exhibition of paintings by talented artists under the theme: "The colors of dignity". The Embassy of Haiti in Canada was represented at this event by Minister-Counsellor Osse Aristild.
Haitian art at the National Gallery of Art
The National Gallery of Art (NGA) in Washington, DC, announced that it has received a donation of 15 works of art from modern and contemporary Haitian artists, and that all of the works will be presented in an exhibition planned for the fall 2024. These are the first pieces by Haitian artists to join the NGA's permanent collection. Of the 15 works, 13 are paintings while two are sequin flags by artist Myrlande Constant.
Mgr Dumas opines on the Multinational Force
"The success of the multinational force to be deployed in Haiti will depend on an awareness of Haitians who must face the evidence of the need to put an end to the current situation and to put an end to the non- law in the country," estimates Mgr Pierre André Dumas.
