The Canal Committee says no to the Government

CARICOM : new proposal

The CARICOM Group of Eminent Persons has transmitted the document of its draft framework of agreement to the various actors involved in the discussions on the Haitian crisis, for examination and reactions. It provides, among other things, for the expansion and strengthening of the attributes of the High Transitional Council (HCT) expanded to 7 members (4 from political parties, 1 from the private sector, 1 from the religious sector and 1 from civil society) endowed presidential powers to the extent possible. A Government Action Control Body composed of 15 representatives all appointed by the HCT and the establishment of the CEP among others... The transition will last 18 months from the signing of the agreement and the Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry will remain at the Prime Minister.

Mgr. Max Leroy Mésidor elected President of the CEH

Friday, November 24, 2023, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Port-au-Prince Mgr Max Leroy Mésidor was elected as the new President of the Conference of Bishops of Haiti (CEH). He replaces the Archbishop of Cap-Haïtien Mgr. Launay Saturné who completed 2 consecutive 3-year mandates.
