Laurent Lamothe, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs (MAEC), left the country this Thursday, October 27 for Asuncion in Paraguay where he will participate on October 28 and 29, to the 21st Ibero-American Summit which will be held under the theme "Transformation of the State and Development".

This is an annual event that brings together most of the heads of state from Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula with a common cultural heritage, in particular linguistic, following the colonization of Latin America by Spain and Portugal.

The Chancellor will be accompanied by a delegation composed, among others, of Deputy Director of the Department of International Affairs of that Ministry, Mr. Pierre Myrtil, and of his Deputy Director of Cabinet, Mr. Lesly Benoit Jr.

The Minister Lamothe will take advantage of this 21st edition to request officially the observer status to this Summit that will allow Haiti to participate fully in the meetings of Foreign Ministers and to the technical meetings and multilateral cooperation activities of this international entity.
