Haiti - Reconstruction : 2nd Business Forum Quebec-Haiti 28/10/2011 10:48:28 Since his election, the President Michel J. Martelly has constantly repeated, through his many travels abroad, that Haiti "is open for business". He begins work with his government, to establish the necessary structures for foreign investment. The creation of the Presidential Investment Advisory Concil (PIAC) for Economic Development and Investment, officially launched in New York on September 20, is the testimony. For the President Martelly, "This economical potential has to be harnessed, and it's in that direction that the Advisory Council will assist my administration in traversing the obstacles to direct investment to propel growth in Haiti." This approach visionary of the President Martelly which consists in putting on the same floor personalities of high profile of the world around a common interest, the prosperity of Haiti, marks a historic turning point in the development effort of the country. The main objective of 2nd Business Forum Quebec-Haiti will be to consolidate the gains made during the first Business Forum Quebec-Haiti in October 2010 either, to bring together the various participants around the ways and means to strengthen the host structures for the investments of Quebec and Canada in Haiti, and, secondly, to create ties between firms of Quebec, of Canada and the Presidential Investment Advisory Concil (PIAC) for Economic Development and Investment. The Forum is the follow of 1st Forum Quebec-Haiti which brought together 300 investors on October 7-8, 2010 and is a unique event in Quebec and Canada.
