Haiti - Insecurity : Land Transport Sector, terrible 2023 assessment (final) 03/01/2024 08:50:03
• 10 Drivers kidnapped by armed individuals, most recently December 28, 2023; • 23 drivers killed including 6 burned bodies, most of them were killed in the presence of armored vehicles of the National Police of Haiti (PNH); • 5 drivers injured by police officers. The latest was December 23 in Belladère; • 382 passengers kidnapped by heavily armed bandits, particularly in Gros Morne and Liancourt, Morne Cabrit. Transport companies such as REMITO and Capital Coach Line are the main victims; • 146 Vehicles hijacked with goods and occupants; • 14 vehicles hit by bullets from bandits and the PNH at Source Matelas, Gressier, Canaan; • 187 passengers injured in Bon Repos, Cannan, Morne Cabrit, Beudet, Sources Matelas, Marliques, Torcelle, Martissant, Liancourt, Mariani.
