Metelus also asked the Head of Government, Martí Batres, to order the installation of portable toilets "We have Haitian brothers who have gone several days without washing, there is no water; we have children who have problems, illnesses and sometimes they have nothing to eat. It's a shame for our country," adding that the migrants on the square "are young people, pregnant women, there are children, they are people who do not have the possibility of renting a room to live with their family, they do not have economic resources to eat [...] We ask for unity, solidarity of all for the benefit of our Haitian migrant brothers, I ask Mexican brothers to continue to help our Haitian brothers." In addition to the square camp located in the Juárez camp district, he indicated that there are other camps and groups of Haitians, notably in Tláhuac near the La Merced market, in the Cafemin hostel, near the Misterios metro station, as well as in the municipalities of Ecatepec, Chalco, Nezahualcóyotl and Tecámac, in the State of Mexico…  Finally he announced that on Friday January 12, 2024, a wreath of flowers will be placed on Giordano Bruno Square, 13 years after the earthquake which devastated Haiti in memory of the hundreds of thousands of victims.
