Haiti - Dom. Rep. : 63,238 Haitians back to the country, repatriated, pushed back or volunteers (December 2023)

The latest report (December 2023) from the Support Group for Returnees and Refugees (GARR) reveals that 63,238 men, women and children were repatriated (by the Directorate General of Migration - DGM), turned back at the border or returned "voluntarily".

Repatriation by the DGM : 25,761 compatriots :

Repatriation via official border crossings: Anse-à-Pitres, Belladère, Malpasse and Ouanaminthe, amount to 14,600 compatriots:

Men (64.5%); women (26.3%) and minors, boys and girls, (9.1%).

Repatriation through unofficial border crossings: Baptiste, Belladère (Rocher), Cornillon, Fonds-Verettes, Las Cahobas (Bateille), Savanette (Miguel), Thomassique amount to 11,161 compatriots :

Men (47.19%), women (20.08%) and minors, boys and girls, (29.13%).

Pushback at the border: 4,425 compatriots:

Refoulement through official border crossings (Anse-à-Pitres, Belladère, Malpasse and Ouanaminthe) amount to 3,021 compatriots :

Men (55.27%), women (31.35%) and minors, boys and girls, (2.06%)

Pushback through unofficial border crossings: Baptiste, Belladère (Rocher), Cornillon, Fonds-Verettes, Las Cahobas (Bateille), Savanette (Miguel), amount to 1,332 compatriots :

Men (47.59%), women (23.34%) and minors, boys and girls, (29.05%)

"Spontaneous" or "voluntary" returns from our compatriots: 30,475

"Spontaneous" returns via official border crossings: (Anse-à-Pitres, Belladère, Malpasse and Ouanaminthe) amount to 11,510 compatriots :

Men (50.36%), women (38.69%) and minors, boys and girls, (21.68%)

"Spontaneous" returns through unofficial border crossings: Baptiste, Belladère (Rocher), Cornillon, Fonds-Verettes, Las Cahobas (Bateille), Savanette (Miguel), amounts to 17,798 compatriots :

Men (42.64%), women (31.14%) and minors, boys and girls, (26.2%)

Pushback at the border: 6,998

Pregnant women :

Returnees : 254

Spontaneous returns : 668

Pushback : 268

Total : 1,208

Unaccompanied minors :

Returnees : 1,277

Spontaneous returns : 1,461

Pushback : 811

Total : 3,549

Notes :

The memorandum of understanding on repatriations and many other migrant protection tools signed by Haiti and the Dominican Republic are in no way respected. GARR is observing more and more cases of intolerable excesses on the part of Dominican migration.
