Kenya will not wait for justice to intervene in Haiti

The Government of Kenya will not wait for a decision from the court of appeal before deploying its forces in Haiti, said Abraham Korir Sing'Oei, a senior official at the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an interview with the New York Times. He said Kenya and Haiti are working to finalize a bilateral agreement in the next two weeks, and that Kenyan forces will be deployed immediately to Haiti once the agreement is established.

600,000 cruise passengers in Haiti

Dysfunctional Jérémie Market

Very early Monday February 5, 2024, the Jérémie public market was dysfunctional. Barricades had been erected around the city market. The road leading to the airport was completely blocked at Cité la Source. Additionally, a vehicle was set on fire and burning tires were noticed on several streets. Schools remained closed for a fourth consecutive week.

Tennis : Coicou won against Mevs

Crisis : much remains to be done

Keith Mines, Vice President of the Latin America Program at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP), on the security and governance crises in Haiti: believes that Haiti's slow decline has brings the country to the brink of collapse. Even though the international community has offered to help, "there’s just a lot of pieces … that haven’t come together yet," said Keith Mines, adding "It probably will take a stronger lead by the United States" to restore the security and governance.
