Haiti - UEH : Postgraduate program in medicine supply chain management

Fritz Deshomme Rector of the State University of Haiti (UEH), Dr. Alex Larsen, Minister of Public Health and Professor Paul S. Lalvani Executive Director of "Empower School of Heath" (a leading global organization in health education, digital learning and capacity building), recently signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding aimed at pursuing three major objectives :

1 - Introduce a postgraduate program on Supply Chain management, particularly in the pharmaceutical field within the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, improving the educational offerings in the initial training of graduates;

2 - Mobilize expertise and technical assistance including online training expertise provided by the Empower School of Healt, Geneva, in order to ensure the dissemination of high quality and world standard content;

3 - Promote long-term cooperation between the Ministry of Public Health and Population, the Empower School of Healt, Geneva, and the State University of Haiti, by creating a sustainable framework for continued collaboration in level of higher education.

Through this protocol, the institutions each share specific responsibilities.

UEH is committed to introducing the post-graduate program in Supply Chain Management, particularly in the pharmaceutical field, into the training offering within the institution; to ensure the academic management of this program with the support of "Empower School of Health"; to ensure responsibility for the premises and technical resources required for online training; to provide academic input and support in the development and finalization of the program; identify and approve internship sites and select candidates for available training.

The Ministry of Health undertakes, among other things, to identify training needs for training in supply chain management for the health sector, to provide support and supervision for the implementation successful implementation of the program, to facilitate coordination with stakeholders in the health sector and to support the process of recognition and validation of diploma programs

"Empower School of Heath" is committed to providing expertise in Supply Chain Management, particularly in the pharmaceutical field; to design, develop and provide training in collaboration with the UEH and to seek funds to finance the program during the period of its execution.

This tripartite agreement, lasting 6 years, is renewable at the option of the parties and takes effect from the date of its signature.
