Haiti - Social : The Order of Canada, awarded to Dr. Jean-Claude Fouron 05/11/2011 12:49:05
His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, has presided Friday, November 4, 2011, an Order of Canada investiture ceremony in his official residence (Rideau Hall, Ottawa). This distinction, one of the highest in Canada, aims to recognize the work of a lifetime, the exceptional dedication of an individual to the community and an extraordinary contribution to the nation. During the ceremony, where 28 individuals have received this distinction, Dr. Jean-Claude Fouron of Haitian descent, had the privilege to receive the honors of high distinction.
Jean-Claude Fouron is a leader in pediatric cardiology. Renowned for using ultrasound Doppler technology to examine fetal cardiac disorders, he founded the first fetal cardiac unit in Canada, at the Centre hospitalier universitaire Sainte-Justine. He has mentored several generations of pediatricians as a professor at the Université de Montréal, while also contributing to medical training programs in perinatal and pediatric care in Haiti. His extensive research has earned him numerous national and international awards.
