PNH : A gang leader and his right-hand man killed

Monday March 4th, 2024 in Belladère (Central Department), gang leader Agony Altenor alias "Salami" and his right arm were fatally injured in their territory in Grand Fond, a locality in the 4th communal section of Saint-Marc, during of a police operation.

Carrefour airport sub-police station burned

Monday the sub-station of the Haitian National Police (PNH) at Carrefour de l'Aéroport (at Delmas 28) was set on fire by armed individuals.

21 inmates escaped from Delmas 33 prison

On the night of March 3 to 4, 2024, at least 21 inmates escaped from Delmas 33 prison.

At least 40 dead

Sunday March 3rd, 2024, more than 30 dead bodies were identified in downtown Port-au-Prince by the authorities and 10 others in the commune of Tabarre.

Embassies closed

Embassy of France :

As a precautionary measure, the visa and French administration services of the French Embassy in Port-au-Prince are closed to the public this Tuesday March 5 and Wednesday March 6, 2024.

Embassy of Canada :

The Canadian Embassy in Haiti will remain closed to visitors on March 5, 2024. Operations continue, but all in-person appointments are canceled. In case of consular emergency, contact: toll-free +1-613-996-8885; sos@international.gc.ca

Embassy of Mexico :

Due to the state of emergency, the Mexican Embassy informs that it will remain closed on March 5 and 6, 2024. People with an appointment for consular procedures will be received with the same confirmation form on March 1st and 2nd. April at the same time indicated. Thank you for your understanding.

Several thousand detainees on the run

On Saturday March 2, heavily armed individuals stormed the National Penitentiary and the Croix-des Bouquets Prison.
