Haiti - CARICOM : Extraordinary session on the transition in Haiti

Friday March 8, 2024, in New York in his daily press briefing, Stéphane Dujarric, the Spokesperson for the UN General Secretariat indicated “the Caribbean Community (Caricom) will hold an extraordinary session on Monday March 11, 2024 in Kingston ( Jamaica), Jamaican headquarters of Caricom to discuss the transition in Haiti, in which the United Nations will participate

The aim of the meeting is to "gather support for a restoration of democratic institutions as quickly as possible."

"The meeting will take place in the presence of Earle Courtenay Rattray, chief of staff of António Guterres, on behalf of the UN, who will be accompanied by other international actors" that Dujarric did not specify, moreover he said not knowing if Prime Minister Ariel Henry, stuck in Puerto Rico without being able to enter Haiti, was invited to the Caricom meeting.
