30 to 50% of gang members are minors
Widespread poverty and a lack of economic opportunities also push young girls and boys to join armed groups, to the point that it is estimated that between 30 and 50% of gang members are minors.

Urgent needs for police officers
The National Police Union of Haiti (SPNH-17), launches an appeal for support to the population and requests urgent measures to strengthen the capacities of the police who require heavy equipment, weapons, ammunition, bulletproof vests and ballistic helmets for each police officer in order to face attacks from armed gangs. Despite the challenges they face, the union says the police remain determined to protect the population and combat insecurity. They encourage collaboration between the police and the population, advocating a participatory security approach to anticipate and counter attacks by criminals.

362,000 displaced people
According to the IOM, 362,000 people, more than half of whom are children, are currently displaced in Haiti, a figure which has jumped 15% since the start of the year.

The President of El Salvador intends to resolve insecurity in Haiti
The young and authoritarian President of El Salvador, Bayib Bukele (42 years old) in charge since 2019, acclaimed for his fight against crime which made it possible to defeat armed gangs thanks to a policy of firmness and to regain control of 100% of the territory in 1 1/2 year old shared a message about the Haitian crisis on "X" (former twitter) where he said "We can solve these things" adding "But we will need a UN Security Council resolution, with the consent of the host country and that all mission costs are covered.é However, no details were communicated on how El Salvador would go about solving the problem of armed gangs in Haiti.
