Bahamas : 107 Haitian boat people intercepted
On Wednesday March 13, 107 Haitian boat people (89 men, 17 women and one minor) were intercepted by a patrol boat of the Royal Bahamas Defense Force (RBDF), in the south of the Bahamas. This fourth group of migrants intercepted in the waters of the Bahamas brings to 370 the number of Haitians intercepted in the waters of the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands, in 4 days.

Mission : Blinken spoke with President Ruto
On Wednesday, March 13, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with Kenyan President William Ruto about the rapid deployment of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) to ensure security and stability for the Haitian people, as well as as the next measures likely to facilitate this deployment. Blinken briefed President Ruto on the commitments made by the United States and other international partners in support of the mission.

The French Embassy closed
"Ambassador Fabrice Mauriès, who was in France at the time of the suspension of flights, returned to his diplomatic post in Port-au-Prince this morning. Let's remember that the services of the French Embassy in Haiti are closed to the public until at least Friday March 15. Its staff remains mobilized to serve the security of our community," informed Stéphane Séjourné, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs at the National Assembly.

Early Thursday March 14, 2024, a fire of unknown origin broke out in the block named "Titanic" of the National Penitentiary in Port-au-Prince.

SOUTHCOM and security of Americans in Haiti
"U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) is prepared with a broad range of contingency plans to ensure the safety and security of U.S. citizens in Haiti," SOUTHCOM said in a statement.
