Haiti - Politic : Steven Benoît and William Jeanty denounces the number of Secretaries of State

The Senator Steven Benoît, who doubts of the competence of advisers of the Head of State, denounces the excessive number of Secretary of State which increased from 7 under the Government Préval, to 19 since the arrival to power of President Martelly.

Citing as examples the three Secretaries attached to the Ministry of Interior, of Territorial Collectivities and National Defense, the two secretaries within the ministries of trade and industry ; Public Works, Transport and Communication, the Senator Benoît criticizes the creation of these secretariat, which are not specified in the organic law [not amended] of these ministries.

For his part, the Senator Jean William Jeanty (Nippes) joins the words of Senator Benoît, considering that all these new appointments, which show the will of the President Martelly to "control everything and to want the absolute power," constitute an additional burden on the state budget, noting that it is funded at more than 65% by the international community. According to Senator Jeanty this team is doomed to failure.
